The Story

Over the past two years, the directors (two in Peru and two in Jordan) have been collaborating on an exchange of filming their lives for and with one another. Their footage has embodied a range of modes and styles: from performative, direct camera address, to handheld verite explorations of their daily lives and cultures, to observational long takes of the landscapes around them, to poetic and experimental interventions to reflect more ineffable interior experiences. In addition to communicating and responding through images and sounds, they have each recorded several audio diaries for one another—sharing stories, posing questions and reflecting on their experiences. Further, the directors have had significant communication over the last year through almost daily Whatsapp texts, photos and videos (using Google Translator); and through regular Skype conversations (with live interpreting by team members).
